Lesson 18: Present Conditional — Regular Verbs

Ruler :

The conditional is used to express a wish or a politeness. For regular verbs: infinitive + imperfect tense endings (-ais, -ais, -ait, -ions, -iez, -aient).

Examples:

eat → I eatais

talk → talk to usions

to like → they likehave

Example sentences:

I would like a coffee, please. (politeness)

We would like to visit the city. (wish)

Scenario:

At the cafe, Sami said, "Hello, I'd like a loaf of bread and a coffee, please." The saleswoman smiled and served him the order.

Useful vocabulary:

to want to like to wish Please coffee bread please
