Explanation

The imperfect tense is used for:

• Describe

• Talking about habits

• Talking about a long-term situation

Formation: base of "nous" in the present tense + endings: -ais, -ais, -ait, -ions, -iez, -aient

Examples

• When I was little, I played a lot.

• It was cold.

Mini-situation

Before, I was working in a large factory. Every day, I was starting at 7am.
